Visit to PT Indofood

Have you ever noticed that Indomie tastes slightly different depending on the region? It turns out, this isn't just your imagination—there's a real reason behind it!

On October 2, 2024, I had the opportunity to visit PT CBP Indofood Sukses Makmur in Makassar with my classmates before attending our Digital Marketing class. This visit opened my eyes to how Indofood tailors its products to suit different consumer preferences across regions.

Regional Taste Differences

  • 🍜 In Sulawesi, Indomie uses chili powder to enhance the spiciness
  • 🍜 In Java, the same product comes with chili sauce instead

This difference isn't random—it's a deliberate strategy by Indofood to adapt to local tastes. People in Sulawesi tend to prefer the dry heat of chili powder, while Javanese consumers are more accustomed to smoother, saucier spice blends.

This experience made me realize how understanding local consumer preferences is crucial in marketing. Indofood's ability to modify its flavors based on regional taste profiles shows just how well they know their market.
